life in shop: the mall at TransAngeles::::
Searching on the web for reliable and/or niche retailers can take time. Provided below are links to some of the better ones, offering unique, specialty and/or hard to find products at reasonable prices. For many in the transgendered community, shopping discreetly is important. Even if that's not the case for you, shopping from home can be much better than dealing with people in a store. Many links have been updated this spring and quite a few new ones listed.

Many of you have written and asked for recommendations on different kinds of online shopping. You may not be in a metro area, so certain things may be a little hard to find. We're blessed in LA. The retail landscape is peppered with such diversity that you can find virtually anything you're looking for with a little bit of effort. Even so, we still do a lot of shopping on the web (girls will shop, right?). Going through the list here, Wigs.net has some great styles, decent prices and regular specials for both synthetic and human hairstyles. Gotham boots has some great shoes, as does Electrique Boutique, where we've been shopping for years. Yes, Hydroderm really works and we recommend it! You can pick up some great deals on bags at Ebags, and some absolute knockout rings at Just Metal (we're big fans of theirs). Of course, the ever-evolving Fredericks carries everything from eveningwear to shoes. They've really come a long way over the past decade. The new image is softer and more contemporary. Where can a girl go for brands like Prada? If you've got the bling, check out Metro Luxury for great prices on A-List designer merchandise. Design Hers is a wonderful online boutique with some great items, for yourself or that special someone.
Cosmetics is an entire world unto itself. Makeup is a matter of personal choice and for most of us, it's always evolving. Mixing, matching, blending and finding out what works for you can take some time. Mac offers various convenient options, from oil to water based foundations, all of which do a great job. Highly recommended if you're seeking a hot look. If you have a Mac store near you, you should go in and have them match some colors to your face. The staff at Mac stores is usually extremely friendly and helpful, so don't be shy and check them out. If you're looking for transformation services or you are in the Boston area and you need a look that is drop-dead-gorgeous, you should visit my friend Jamie Austin. Jamie's artistry is virtually unsurpassed and he is one of the top makeup artists in the country. You can find Jamie at the Glamour Boutique on Route 9 just west of Boston's Metrowest area. You can have a ton of smokin' photos taken to amaze your friends if you go for a full session, as we have in the past.
Who has the best Jukebox? Again, a matter of personal preference, although we do endorse and use MusicMatch software. It's intuitively designed and the available user options (two major issues for us when it comes to software and applications) are vast and offer customization, which is always key. What do you do with all of the IM proggies/screen names that you have? Trillian offers sleek, easy-to-use intuitive software that enables you to stay connected through all of your various IM identities/ISPs through one convenient window. Communicate and manage all of your contacts with one program. Yes, the Pro version is a great value. For those of you who enjoy independent cinema as much as we do, but may not have a good local indie theatre where you can see films, check out Film Movement, the first DVD club for indepedent film. Included in their monthly subscription price is not only one current indie feature DVD selection, but also one short film. Short films do not receive their due. Their are some real treasures out there, but unfortunately, without something like Film Movement, if you're not actually going to festivals, you can miss out on some short films that are real treasures.
