Nothing has done more for the growth and betterment of the transgendered community than the internet. Things still have a long way to go in many ways, but before personal computers, it was a very different community. In the nineties, as people began to connect online, the increased communication led to leaps and bounds in the establishment of a much wider community base. It was, and still is, an exciting time to be tg. The best is yet to come. Provided here are links to transgendered resources.

Recommended Reading for the Trans-Minded: First up, let's talk makeup. We get questions about it all the time. Practice, practice, practice - but - if you're looking THE book on faces, you should get Kevyn's "Making Faces." Before his passing, Kevyn Accoin had done makeup for many high-profile celebrities, including Cher and RuPaul. Kevyn's book will unlock the secrets of many of the hottest looks imaginable. He'll put everything in reach for you.

Kate Bornstein is one of our heroes. "Gender Outlaw" is a manifesto for the new century. Kate's writing style and tongue-in-cheek delivery is inspiring for all of those who wish to shatter the stereotypes that haunt our community to this day.

Calpernia Sarah Addams is another one of our heroes. If you saw "Soldier's Girl," you know what we're talking about. That film was so well written, acted, shot and edited that it was the first film of its kind to have an impact that reached way beyond the community in a way that no other film did before or since. Check out Calpernia's book, "Mark 947." Highly recommended.

And while we're on the subject of pioneers and heroes, the list would not be complete without Rosalyne Blumenstein's "Branded T." Rosalyne's book is both compelling and entertaining. She speaks all around the country, so if you ever get the chance to hear her speak, do what we've done and go see her!

Two recent additions to the reading list are Mildred Brown's "True Selves" and Jennifer Finney Boylan's "She's Not There." Do check them out. You can click on any of the links below to read more about these works and you can purchase safely and securely through Amazon.
